Advancing Sustainable Agriculture through Science and Innovation
Research Focus Areas
My work as a researcher and PhD candidate in Animal Science is centered on pasture science and sustainable livestock production. My primary areas of expertise include:
Pasture Science & Ruminant Nutrition
- Developing strategies for planted pastures (grasses and legumes) to provide sustainable feeding systems for ruminants.
Rangeland Restoration & Conservation
- Designing methods to restore degraded rangelands, enhance soil fertility, and promote biodiversity for long-term ecological health.
Food Security & Sustainable Agriculture
- Addressing the challenge of feeding a growing global population by ensuring reliable and environmentally friendly sources of animal protein.
Research Training & Supervision
- Mentoring undergraduate students in animal science research, academic writing, data collection, and results interpretation.
Inspiring Personal Growth
Research Contributions
Through my work, I aim to integrate science with real-world impact:
- Food For Mzansi Podcast Analyst – Sharing research insights and pasture management knowledge with farmers and agricultural communities.
- National Science Week & Public Engagement – Translating scientific findings into accessible knowledge for the public.
- FameLab Science Communication Competitions – Presenting scientific ideas in clear, engaging formats to diverse audiences.
- Conferences & Workshops – Delivering presentations at both local and international platforms, including the All Africa Conference on Animal Agriculture (2023).
